2011 Fostering Community Events:

• Get Fit with GAPA!
  In an effort to improve nutrition and fitness levels, GAPA and DMG are challenging others to “Get Fit with GAPA”. This initiative will begin in October with PA month, and will continue through summer 2012…Crossing the finish line in Sandestin. • Dylan Maples Memorial Scholarship & Swim Safety Program
  On July 20, 2011, DMG and GAPA hosted the Dylan Maples Memorial Swim Safety Program in honor of Dylan Maples, a two year old who drowned in his family’s pool. There was a great turn out, as kids of all ages learned the importance of swim safety...along with having fun with friends!
• Blood Drive
  DMG, partnering with GAPA and the American Red Cross, has held numerous blood drives annually at conferences. In 2011, 36 GAPA summer conference attendees donated blood - that's enough to help 108 people!
• Family Sandcastle Sculpting
  This summer GAPA and DMG pushed up our sleeves for a sand castle building contest. There was a great turnout, and everyone had a fabulous time! Winners were chosen by our expert panel of judges.
• 5K Fun Run and Walk
  GAPA and DMG put their running shoes on for a 5k Fun Run on July 20, 2011. The run took place on the beach with a beautiful sunrise in the background. Participants received GAPA 5K Fun Run t-shirts at the end of the race. Proceeds benefited the GAPA student scholarship fund.

Other notable events benefitting the community include silent auctions, beach parties, golf tournaments, environmental beach clean ups, and more.
